Vietnam’s Tourism Boom: 7.7 Million International Visitors in Early 2025

Vietnam’s tourism sector is experiencing a significant resurgence, with nearly 7.7 million international visitors arriving between January and April 2025, 23.8% increase compared to the same period last year.

Top Source Markets:

  • China: 1.95 million visitors (25.4% of total), marking a 56.7% year-on-year increase.
  • South Korea: 1.58 million visitors (20.6%).
  • Taiwan: 440,000 visitors.
  • United States: 323,000 visitors.
  • Japan: 280,000 visitors.

Notably, arrivals from the Philippines surged by 198.3%, Cambodia by 79.6%, and Laos by 44.7%.

European Market Growth:

European countries benefiting from Vietnam’s visa exemption policy showed steady growth.

  • United Kingdom: 20.7% increase.
  • France: 24.7% increase.
  • Germany: 18.8% increase.
  • Italy: 32.6% increase.
  • Spain: 12.9% increase.
  • Russia: 110.9% increase, becoming the largest European source market with over 166,000 arrivals.

Popular Destinations:

According to Google Destination Insights, Vietnam ranks 7th globally in top growth by destination country.  The most searched Vietnamese cities by foreign tourists include:

  • Ho Chi Minh City
  • Hanoi
  • Da Nang
  • Phu Quoc
  • Nha Trang
  • Hoi An
  • Vung Tau
  • Da Lat
  • Phan Thiet
  • Hue

Notably, Vung Tau and Ninh Binh recorded the highest growth in search volume, exceeding 75%.

Looking Ahead

Vietnam aims to attract between 22 and 23 million international visitors in 2025, bolstered by favorable visa policies and robust tourism promotion efforts.
