Microsoft Bing has introduced a new feature called Bing Video Creator, allowing users to generate AI-powered videos from text prompts using OpenAI’s Sora model. This marks the first time Sora’s video generation capabilities are available for free, as previously, access was limited to paying customers.
Currently, Bing Video Creator is accessible through the Bing mobile app, with desktop availability expected in the future.Users can create up to 10 video clips at no cost, provided they are logged into a Microsoft account. After reaching this limit, additional videos can be generated by redeeming 100 Microsoft Rewards points per video. These points can be earned by using Bing for searches or making purchases through the Microsoft Store.

At launch, videos are generated in a vertical 9:16 aspect ratio, suitable for platforms like TikTok and Instagram. Each video is limited to 5 seconds in length, and users can queue up to three videos at a time. While the “fast” mode is intended to produce videos in just a few minutes, actual generation times may vary, sometimes taking hours. Plans are in place to support horizontal video formats in the near future.
This integration of Sora into Bing represents a significant step in making advanced AI video generation tools more accessible to a broader audience.
